The Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam was created between 1935 & 1938
and still draws amazing crowds even now. The Dam
blocks the natural flow of the Colorado river and in turn creates the
largest man made lake in the world,
Lake Mead. The Dam
is a water source for more than 20million people and generates
a massive amount of electricity that helps keep the lights on in half a
million homes. You can also cross the state line half way across the Dam
as half of this structure is officially located in Arizona. The Hoover Dam
is located just 30 minutes from the Las Vegas strip and is easily reached
via the US 93 freeway.
